About Us

Our Story

Maria-Goreth Safe Haven Organization was founded in honor of Marieta Masanja, a compassionate and spiritually devoted woman who, together with her husband, supported vulnerable children despite having limited resources. Inspired by her kindness, the founders named the organization after her to preserve her legacy.

The children’s home was officially registered on 7th September 2021 and is located at Boko National Housing Estate in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The home provides a secure and supportive environment with adequate outdoor space, a garden for food production, and dedicated staff led by a Board of Trustees.

The Home

The home has the capacity to care for 15 children and has supported a total of 13 children since its establishment, with six successfully reunited with their families. Over the years, the organization has transformed the lives of vulnerable children, including a malnourished boy who grew into a healthy and confident child, and twin girls who arrived in poor health but later became cheerful, playful, and enrolled in school. The organization continues to nurture and guide children toward brighter futures through care, protection, and education.

Programs & Services

The organization aims at implementing special programs for purposes of improving care services to the children at the Home. Based on this intent, the organization’s Five-Year Strategic Plan 2026-2030 includes provision of basic services such as shelter (accommodation), feeding, clothing and medical support. In addition, the Plan accommodates special programs for children’s well-being, education and child protection (including counselling and emotional support, promoting rights & obligations). Further, the Plan covers special projects related to strengthening security and upgrading the compound to accommodate outdoor activities.
